Terms of Service
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Version: 1.2
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") set out the agreement between you and EMBR Tax Ltd ("EMBR Tax", "we", "us", or "our") when you use embrtax.com or any of our services.
By using the site, creating an account, or subscribing to Pro, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Please read these Terms carefully. They include important information about your rights, our liability, and how the service works — including a 14-day cooling-off period, a cancellation policy, and an important disclaimer that EMBR Tax provides general guidance only and is not a substitute for professional tax advice.
If anything is unclear, please email us at embrtax@gmail.com before agreeing.
2. Who we are
EMBR Tax Ltd
Registered in England & Wales — Company Number 17262680
Registered office: 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom
ICO Registration: ZC181272
Email: embrtax@gmail.com
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. See Section 18 for full details.
3. What the service is
EMBR Tax provides:
- Free landing pages and educational content — salary and family calculator landing pages, articles, and guides, all viewable by anyone without an account.
- A free account — required to use any of our interactive tools. You must sign in before you can enter any inputs into a calculator or save anything. Your free account gives you access to the basic calculators and lets you save your figures and return to them later.
- A Pro subscription — a paid tier on top of a free account that unlocks additional features (see Section 5).
In short: browsing the site is free and open, but anything that requires you to enter information — including the free calculators — requires a free account.
The service is built around UK tax rules for England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. It is intended for use by individuals in the United Kingdom. If you are based outside the UK, you may use the educational content for general interest, but the calculators and figures will not be applicable to your tax situation, and you use the service at your own risk.
4. Important disclaimer — guidance, not advice
EMBR Tax provides general guidance and educational tools, not regulated financial, tax, pension, or legal advice.
- The calculators are based on UK 2026/27 tax thresholds, allowances, and rules and rely on the figures you enter.
- Results are estimates only and do not account for every personal circumstance, adjustment, or change in legislation.
- Tax rules change, and we cannot guarantee that our content is always up to date or applicable to your specific situation.
- Before acting on anything you see on EMBR Tax, you should speak to a qualified financial adviser, accountant, or tax professional who can review your full position.
- We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and do not provide regulated financial advice.
You are responsible for your own tax filings, pension contributions, and financial decisions. We are not liable for any tax, financial, or other loss arising from your reliance on the service. See Section 14 for the full liability position.
5. The Pro subscription
5.1 What Pro includes
Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks the following features:
- Multiple income sources — add multiple salaries and other income (e.g. rental, dividends, interest)
- Tax relief inputs — input adjustments such as mortgage interest and Gift Aid to calculate your true Adjusted Net Income (ANI)
- Pension scenario planning — model different pension contribution levels and see how each affects your annual and monthly take-home pay
- Saved scenarios — save multiple scenarios to your account and return to them later
We may add, change, or remove features from Pro over time. If we make a material reduction to what Pro provides, we will notify you in advance and you may cancel without further charge (see Section 8).
5.2 Pricing
Pro is available on two billing options:
| Plan | Price | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| Pro Monthly | £7.99 | Every month, starting on the date you subscribe |
| Pro Annual | £69.00 | Once per year, starting on the date you subscribe |
Prices are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable. We may change prices in future — see Section 6.
5.3 How billing works
- Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. By subscribing, you also accept Stripe's terms.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel.
- We will charge your saved payment method on each renewal date.
- If a payment fails, we will retry the charge and notify you by email. If we cannot collect payment after a reasonable number of attempts, your Pro access will be suspended.
6. Changes to pricing
We may change the price of Pro in future. If we do:
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price takes effect.
- The new price will apply to your next renewal after the notice period.
- If you do not want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before your next renewal and you will not be charged the new amount.
7. 14-day cooling-off period
Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your Pro subscription within 14 days of the date you subscribed, for any reason, and receive a full refund of the most recent payment.
To exercise this right, email us at embrtax@gmail.com within 14 days of subscribing, with the subject line "Cooling-off cancellation".
Important exception: If you start using Pro features during the 14-day period, you acknowledge that you may lose the right to a cooling-off refund. By accessing any Pro-only feature within the 14 days, you expressly request immediate performance of the service and agree that your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 will be lost once the service has been fully performed. In practice this means that if you have actively used Pro features (e.g. saved a scenario, added income sources beyond the free tier), we may decline a cooling-off refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed services.
8. Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time, from your account settings or by emailing us at embrtax@gmail.com.
When you cancel:
- Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period (the end of the current month for monthly subscribers, or the end of the current year for annual subscribers).
- You will not be charged again after the current period ends.
- We do not provide pro-rata refunds for unused time outside the 14-day cooling-off period in Section 7.
- Your saved scenarios remain accessible to you while your account is open, but Pro-only features (e.g. multiple income sources) will be locked once your subscription ends.
If you want to delete your account entirely, email us at embrtax@gmail.com — see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
9. Your account
You need to create a free account to use any of our interactive tools. Anything on the site that requires you to enter inputs — including the free salary and family calculators — is gated behind sign-up. The landing pages, articles, and guides are viewable without an account, but as soon as you want to enter your own figures, you will be asked to create or sign in to a free account.
Your free account lets you use the basic calculators, save your figures, and return to them later. You can choose to upgrade to Pro (see Section 5) at any time for additional features, but Pro is optional — you do not need to subscribe to keep using the free tools.
You agree:
- to provide accurate information when registering
- to keep your password confidential and not share your account with others
- to notify us promptly at embrtax@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission
- that you are responsible for all activity on your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms — see Section 11.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that breaches UK law
- Resell, redistribute, or republish outputs from the calculators (whether for free or for payment) as if they were your own work or a regulated service
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, headless browsers, AI agents, or similar) to access, copy, or extract content or calculator outputs from the site beyond what is needed for normal human use
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying logic of the calculators or any other part of the service
- Submit false, misleading, or malicious data to the calculators or forms
- Interfere with the operation of the service, including by introducing malware, attempting denial-of-service attacks, or attempting to bypass authentication or access controls
- Use the service to provide tax, financial, or legal advice to third parties in a way that suggests EMBR Tax is the provider or endorser of that advice
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
We may investigate suspected breaches and take any action we consider appropriate, including suspending or closing your account, removing content, or referring matters to law enforcement.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the service (including paid features) if:
- you breach these Terms
- we are required to do so by law or by a competent authority
- continuing to provide the service to you would expose us to legal, regulatory, or security risk
- we discontinue the service or any part of it (see Section 12)
Where reasonably possible, we will give you notice before suspension or termination, and an opportunity to remedy any breach. Where the breach is serious (for example, attempted fraud or interference with the service) we may act immediately without notice.
If we terminate your paid subscription because of your breach, you will not be entitled to a refund. If we terminate it for any other reason (e.g. we close the service), we will refund a pro-rata share of any prepaid amount covering the period after termination.
12. Changes to the service
We may add to, change, or remove parts of the service at any time.
- Free service changes — we may change or discontinue free features without notice. You are not entitled to any refund or compensation in respect of free features.
- Pro service changes — we may add or improve Pro features at any time. If we make a material reduction to what Pro provides during your current billing period, we will tell you in advance and give you the option to cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of the affected portion.
13. Beta and preview features
From time to time we may make experimental, beta, or preview features available, either to all users or to a subset. These features are clearly labelled as such.
Beta features are provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind. They may be incomplete, contain bugs, change without notice, or be withdrawn entirely. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of beta features, and we do not commit to making them part of the permanent service.
14. Liability
14.1 We do not exclude liability for certain things
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under UK consumer law
Your statutory rights as a consumer (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are not affected by anything in these Terms.
14.2 What we are not liable for
Subject to Section 14.1, we are not liable to you for:
- Tax, financial, or pension losses arising from your reliance on the calculators or the educational content — these are guidance tools, not regulated advice, and you remain responsible for your own decisions
- Inaccuracies in calculator outputs caused by you entering incorrect or incomplete data
- Changes in tax law or HMRC guidance that affect the accuracy of historical calculator results
- Loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss
- Loss or corruption of data that you have not separately backed up
- Service interruptions, downtime, or unavailability — see Section 15
14.3 Liability cap
Subject to Section 14.1, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the service, or our website is limited to:
- for Pro subscribers, the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £100
- for free users, £100
This cap applies whether the claim is in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise.
15. Service availability
We aim to keep the service available 24 hours a day, but we do not guarantee continuous availability.
- The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues affecting us or our service providers (e.g. our hosting platform, Stripe, HubSpot).
- We do not provide a contractual service level agreement (SLA) or uptime guarantee.
- We are not liable for any loss arising from service interruption or downtime, except where required by Section 14.1.
We will use reasonable efforts to give advance notice of planned maintenance where possible.
16. Intellectual property
All content on embrtax.com — including the calculators, articles, branding, design, code, and database structures — is owned by EMBR Tax Ltd or licensed to us by third parties. It is protected by UK and international copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may:
- View and use the content for your personal, non-commercial use
- Save your own results generated by the calculators (these belong to you)
- Share a link to the site with others
You may not, without our prior written consent:
- copy, republish, or redistribute any of our content
- use our content for commercial purposes or to train AI/machine learning systems
- use our brand, name, or logo other than to refer to EMBR Tax in good faith
- create derivative works based on our calculators or content
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas to us, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use that feedback to improve the service, without any obligation to compensate you.
17. Referrals and affiliate programmes
We may, in future, offer a referral or affiliate programme allowing you to earn rewards (e.g. account credit, free months of Pro, or commission) for introducing new users to EMBR Tax.
If we launch such a programme, separate terms will apply and will be made available to participants. Nothing in these Terms obliges us to operate a referral or affiliate programme, and we reserve the right to change or withdraw any such programme at any time.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute, except that:
- if you live in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in Scotland
- if you live in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in Northern Ireland
Complaints
Before going to court, please try to resolve any concerns with us directly by emailing embrtax@gmail.com. We will respond within 10 working days and will work in good faith to resolve any complaint.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to refer the matter to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. We are not currently signed up to a specific ADR scheme, but we will engage with any reasonable ADR process you propose.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to the service, to comply with new laws, or to improve clarity.
- For minor changes (e.g. fixing typos, clarifying wording), we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and post the new version on this page.
- For material changes (e.g. changes to billing, liability, or your rights), we will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance, and you will have the option to cancel your subscription before the new Terms take effect if you do not agree.
Continued use of the service after the effective date of new Terms means you accept them.
20. Other points
- No partnership — nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and us.
- Assignment — you may not transfer your account or rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another company, for example as part of a corporate reorganisation or sale of the business.
- No third-party rights — these Terms do not give rights to anyone other than you and EMBR Tax under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- Severability — if any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in force.
- Waiver — if we do not enforce a right under these Terms in a particular instance, that does not mean we have waived the right to enforce it in future.
- Entire agreement — these Terms (together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy) form the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the service.
